Day 1 of the Motocross of European Nations
(GDANSK) Poland, 2 September 2017 – The 2017 Motocross of European Nations started today where FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, Chairman of the FIM Europe Motocross Commission Mr. Eddie Herd, and Race Director Mr. Peter Goris, welcomed the participants in the opening press conference. Mr. Eddie Herd carried out Balloting of the teams for both the Motocross of European Nations and Woman’s Motocross of European Nations in front of teams, riders, and media.
Free practices of the EMX125/250, EMX85 and WMX took place in the morning. After seeing the free practice conditions Race Director and Event Management came together again and ultimately came to the decision the track was unridable and qualifying was cancelled.
Therefore, the results of the Free practice were counted as the results of the Qualifying race leaving Team Netherlands atop the standings in both the Motocross of European Nations and Woman’s Motocross of European Nations classes.
Weather conditions have improved since and the track workers are in the process of preparing the circuit to the best condition for the riders tomorrow asn Sunday’s schedule remain unchanged.
The day concluded with the presentation of 17 teams from 16 different nations highlighting the true international spirit of the event.
